Service: Emergency Fuel Spill Response & Cleanup
Facility Type: Highway Transportation Incident
Description:
In July 2024, ACC provided emergency environmental response following the rollover of a gasoline tanker truck along Interstate 5 near Wolf Creek, Oregon. The incident resulted in the release of approximately 2,000 gallons of gasoline, which entered a median culvert and discharged onto private property. ACC worked with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and emergency response contractors to:
- Assess the extent of the gasoline release in soil and water.
- Excavate and remove 586 tons of petroleum-contaminated soil (PCS) over a two-day period.
- Conduct confirmation sampling to verify successful remediation.
- Perform follow-up water well sampling to ensure no residual contamination impacted local water sources.
- Prepare regulatory reports for submission to the DEQ.
