Naturally Occurring Asbestos
Asbestos is categorized by six different fibrous minerals that occur naturally in the environment. Asbestos fibers do not dissolve by water and are too minuscule to be seen by the bare eye. The fibers are resistant to evaporation, heat, fire, and biological degradation.
Different than those found in commercial products, mining, or processing operations, natural occurring asbestos (NOA) are the natural fibrous minerals that are found in rocks or soil. Such fibers are not health risks, until disturbed and airborne by routine human activities or weathering processes.
ACC’s asbestos team, comprised of California Certified Asbestos Consultants and California Site Surveillance Technicians, can help you determine if elements surrounding your residence or commercial space may contain asbestos materials.
