Service: Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)
Facility Type: Former Fuel Station Site

    Description:

In May 2024, ACC conducted a Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) at a suspected former fuel station in Lincoln City, Oregon. A prior Phase I ESA, also completed by ACC, identified the potential presence of historical underground storage tanks (USTs) based on Sanborn fire insurance maps. To confirm the presence of USTs, ACC contracted and oversaw a geophysical survey using ground-penetrating radar (GPR). The survey identified two underground anomalies, likely associated with former USTs. To assess potential contamination, ACC:

    • Advanced six borings to evaluate subsurface soil and groundwater conditions.
    • Collected and analyzed samples for gasoline and oil-range hydrocarbons.
    • Conducted a risk pathway assessment to determine potential environmental concerns.
Although low levels of hydrocarbons were detected, concentrations remained below DEQ screening levels, and no further remediation was deemed necessary. Outcome: ACC compiled the findings into a Phase II ESA report, which was submitted to the client. The comprehensive assessment confirmed no significant environmental risk, supporting future site development without further environmental constraints.
